Funds a sailing addiction by being an economist and macro strategist by day. Studied and lectured in Tasmania and Oxford, worked in Washington, London, Hong Kong, and now Singapore. Loves the outdoors including hiking, hydrofoiling and skiing. Looking forward to learning new things and enjoying more adventures with Christel.

Our Story

When a Tassie Economist met his Singapore girl (with a bit of Thai Spice!)

Mike and Christel met just after the first (of the many) COVID lockdowns in Singapore. Though from different worlds, they found their souls intertwined through a shared passion for the outdoors and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and adventure.

As they crossed the finish line of their first Ironman 70.3 together, Mike knew he had found his forever teammate and asked Christel to marry him. She said yes!

Forte dei Marmi is a glamorous seaside town with a stunning view of the Apuan Alps, with their white marble tops heaving up behind the town. You'll enjoy Liberty Villas behind walls, shaded by ancient Mediterranean trees, alongside the wide seaside promenade with bike and pedestrian paths. The bike is a must for both locals and tourists! If you like the energy of a town with trendy boutiques, chic restaurants and luxury beach clubs.. Forte dei Marmi is your best choice.

Pietrasanta

(8km away from Forte dei Marmi)

Marina di Pietrasanta is located beside Forte dei Marmi and is a more quiet town with some of the area’s best beaches. It is connected to the municipality of Pietrasanta, a pleasant old town founded in the XIII century, which has been an important center of marble extraction and working for centuries. Pietrasanta is known as the City of Artists and has many artists studios in town, along with an interesting museum dedicated to marble sculpture, the Bozzetti Museum. If you prefer a more quiet option, with an artistic personality, you should go for Marina di Pietrasanta or Pietrasanta.

Viareggio

(20km away from Forte dei Marmi)

Viareggio is a seaside resort well known for its Art Nouveau architecture. It is a very attractive spot with its long promenade adding a great deal of character. Stroll along Passeggiata Margherita – the promenade that follows the seafront through the town – to enjoy the best examples of the above mentioned architecture. The main beach is long, sandy and covered in long rows of brightly coloured parasols. If you are willing to relax.. Viareggio is what you are looking for!

Join us at Alpemare Beach Club for our pre-wedding reception dinner and drinks.

Wedding Ceremony

28th September 4pm - 6pm

Shuttle pick-ups will be arranged from your hotels (from 3pm and onwards) to the secret location.

Dress Code: Black Tie, Great Gatsby

Aperitifs and Canapes

28th September 6pm - 7pm

Guests will be treated to aperitifs and canapes at the same location after we say "We Do!"

Dinner and Party

Our dinner program will commence from 7pm and onwards at the same location.
Shuttle service will be available from 11pm and onwards for hotel drop-offs.
